6/12/2010 Singapore 2 Myanmmar 1

SERIOUSLY, SINGAPORE. WAKE UP.
Gave us the scare of the year when Myanmmar scored first. 7 red shirts in the box and the ball still went in. Honestly, you call that defending? I think even those guys in League Two can do better.
I am now seriously questioning Raddy's state of mind. Starting Mohamad Ridhuan is not a bad idea, but with Khairul Amri around, it would have seemed that the choice is obvious. When he finally did bring Khairul Amri and Agu Casmir on in the second half, you would have practically thought that Singapore fielded an entirely different team. The difference was obvious.
In the first half, the performance was lethargic, Singapore was always slow to the ball and ever so predictable. Seriously, I've never seen a decent football team that have stuck to one single tactic even after they've been read so weel by the opposition.
In the second half, thing got better. MUCH better. They fought for every ball with their lives, pushed 8 men in attack, and finally got the goals they deserved. Myanmar was reduced from brave minnows to weary castle defenders, unable to stop wave after wave of Singapore attacks. In short, the second half was absolutely brilliant.
I think there is one player who deserves most of the plaudits and that would be Juma'at Jantan. He was absolutely outstanding in the second half, shuttling back and forth, breaking up Myannmar attacks and starting counter attacks. Seriously, if we'd lost after all his effort, we would really be unforgivable.

Plaudits also to Agu Casmir who scored us the winner in late injury time. Good lesson learnt from the Filipinos.
Now, why can't Singapore play like that every time?
